 The next step after your documents have been
scanned or faxed is to index them so that individuals or applications can retrieve them
based on some key information about those documents. For example, if an invoice were
scanned you might want to retrieve it via customer number, invoice number, date received,
date invoiced, etc... These key fields need to be attached to the document either
manually or automatically via OCR/ICR/Barcode. Additionally, security elements may
be placed on the document so that only authorized individuals may have access to the
document. Once these elements are tagged to the document, it is ready to be accessed
by your organization.
